Visa & Transit Visas

Please ensure that visa requirements for your destination country, as well as transit visa requirements for any country in which you are transiting, are in order.

Citizens of the Schengen Area can enter Spain without a visa.

If an entry visa is required, it is strongly advised that participants obtain it prior to arrival in Spain. Once you have successfully registered for the event, an invitation letter for visa purposes will automatically be sent to you.

Please refer to the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for nationality-specific visa requirements or visit: schengenvisainfo.com

Important: Holders of valid United Nations Laissez-Passer (UNLP) can enter Spain without a visa for a stay not exceeding three months. Please ensure your UNLP is valid for at least six months beyond your return date to your duty station.

Electrical Sockets

Spain operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz frequency, similar to most of Europe. There are two plug types commonly used:

• Type C: Two round pins

• Type F: Two round pins with two earth clips on the side

Please bring your own outlet converter and chargers, as these will not be available on site.

A travel adapter allows you to plug your device into a foreign socket, but does not convert voltage or frequency. Ensure your personal appliances are compatible with 230V / 50Hz before use.

Currency

The currency in Spain is Euro; the most used and accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard. Citizens of non-EU countries are eligible for tax-free returns. Purchases must be made in shops displaying the Tax-Free sign.

Information on CaixaForum Madrid

CaixaForum Madrid is a 21st century sociocultural center which opens its doors to ancient, modern and contemporary art, music and poetry festivals, multimedia art, debates on current affairs, social conferences and family and educational workshops.

Its spectacular premises, in Paseo del Prado, near the three major museums of the Art Walk, the Prado, the Thyssen and the Reina Sofía, are one of the city's newest icons.

The renovation of the building that housed the old Mediodía electric power station was carried out by the Herzog & De Meuron architectural studio and it has two characteristics that make it easily recognizable: its vertical garden and its apparent state of "levitation".

CaixaForum has an area of over 2,000 square metres, encompassing exhibition halls, an auditorium with seating for 322 people and various multipurpose conference rooms. A café, a shop/bookstore and a restaurant round out the center's amenities.
